"Damrot", one of the rich sweets of south India.This is an easy but elegant sweet.When i want to prepare this sweet i usually remember my Brother, who just loves sweets and this is one of his favorites.
Ingredients :
2.5lbs Pumpkin
2½ cups Milk
1½ cups Sugar
2 tbsp Ghee
A Pinch Cardamom
A Pinch Nutmeg powder (Jayphal-optional)2½ cups Milk
1½ cups Sugar
2 tbsp Ghee
A Pinch Cardamom
For Garnish:
Dry fruits (Cashews, Pistachios, Almonds, Raisins)
Method:
- Grate/grind(if in big quantity) the pumpkin and discard the water.
- Heat ghee and add the grated pumpkin.
- Stir and add milk.
- Stir frequently, and when it becomes very thick, add sugar, cardamom and nutmeg powder.
- Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved and the mixture reaches (halwa) consistency.
- Remove from heat, garnish with dried fruits and serve Warm.
